Kindness is a Higher Calling

Chick-fil-A, would you like a review of a recent experience at one of your restaurants?  It would be my pleasure!

Anyone who dines regularly at a Chick-fil-A is well aware that these folks know how to provide quality customer service.  It’s a bird, it’s a plane….NO, it’s your local Chick-fil-A worker!!!  Chick-fil-A sends people into the rain and snow to cut down on your drive-thru time, they will walk your food to your table and bring a high-chair for your child, they will ensure you have ample sauce, straws, your beverage is never empty, and your trash is cleared, and respond to your expression of thanks with a cheery “my pleasure.”  They are pretty much A-M-A-Z-E-B-A-L-L-S!

Chick-Fil-A

I met up with a few other “rare” mommas at a local Chick-Fil-A this past weekend and my admiration of the company’s attention to customer service grew just a bit more.  One of Taylor’s friends, Enzo, was in an adaptive stroller/wheelchair, and shortly after his arrival, a Chik-fil-A employee came out to greet us. He looked at, smiled, and greeted Enzo and told us (Enzo) he was so glad we were there to eat with them.  He checked on us repeatedly to make sure our cups were full and trash was clear.

Shortly after his warm welcome, the Eat Mor Chikin’ Cow came out to our table and spent some time waving and interacting with our children.  Once Enzo caught sight of the Eat Mor Chickin Cow he began smiling and even reached up to wave.  Eat Mor Chikin spent a little extra time with our buddy and it was a really sweet moment to watch. The cow was not out prior to our arrival and I can’t help but wonder if they sent him out, in part, due to our kids.  He interacted with others in the restaurant but really went the extra mile for Enzo and each of our kids received an individual, stuffed Eat Mor Chikin’ cow to take home.

This may not seem like such a big deal, but it really means the world to families like us, as well as to mamas everywhere.  We make due on our own.  We get in and out of buildings everyday, wrangling children, bags, equipment and strollers, order food, eat in restaurants, and manage it all just fine.  But some people and companies go out of their way to make that experience easier and the warmth and compassion in their service truly shows.

Chick-fil-A’s “Giving Philosophy” is “to serve.  No matter our title or job description, our reason for coming to work is to generously share our time and talents.  Whether it’s treating customers like friends, or serving our communities like neighbors, we believe kindness is a higher calling.”

Thank you, Chick-fil-A, and well done.
